The Basic Law on Suicide Prevention designates March, which tends to have the highest monthly number of suicides, as "Suicide Prevention Month" and promotes educational activities.
Spring is a time when people are prone to anxiety and stress due to major changes in their living environment, such as entering higher education, finding a new job, or moving to a new place. Why don't we start with what each of us can do toward the realization of "a society where no one is driven to suicide"?

Talking to someone about what is bothering you may make you feel a little better or help you find a solution within yourself. There are also telephone, social networking, and other consultation services available depending on the nature of your concerns, so please contact us. Also, if you notice someone close to you having a problem, please listen to their concerns and refer them to a consultation service.

A gatekeeper is a person who can "notice," "talk to," "listen to," "connect" to necessary support, and "watch over" those in distress. No special qualifications are required.
If you see someone around you who is struggling, please talk to them gently. That action is the first step in becoming a "gatekeeper.
